 Here’s a little morphology quiz.

I slipped up on Q3 mistaking the Chediak Higashi syndrome for Dohle bodies, and Q6 was the Alder Reilly Syndrome.
But a little reminder of obscure things is always useful…

The other day I was pondering on the difference between promyelocytes and myelocytes…

But where do you draw the line between myelocytes and metamyelocytes. Or promyelocytes and blast cells…

22 May 2017 (Monday) - Morphology Club

This morning we had the Monday Morning Morphology Club. As well as several rather interesting slides I learned about new treatments for CML, and about a rather horrible case of cold agglutinins disease in which the thermal amplitude of the cold antibody was such that it was active at body temperature, and therefore fatal.

24 April 2017 (Monday) - Morphology Discussion Group

This morning a few of us got together before work for the Monday morning morphology discussion group. Today we reviewed cases of:

• CML transforming to AML
• The May-Hegglin anomoly
• Pernicious anaemia

 And we considered two cased which had presented during the last week:

• Myeloma
• childhood ALL

 I’m finding these sessions really useful.

10 April 2017 (Monday) - Morphology Session

An early start today – another morphology session. Only three of us were along today but I found it a useful hour. We covered a few films:

• HTLV 1
• AML with auer rods
• CML
• myeloma
• hairy cells

I do hope these sessions continue…
