Time for a
BTLP-TACT exercise…
I was
presented with two cases
000484 –
an eighty-eight year old chap in A&E with a CVA requiring group & save
He grouped
as B Rh(D) Negative with antibody screen positive in cells 1 & 2. I
selected antibody panels.
The IAT
panel was positive in cells 1, 2 5, 8 and 9 and negative in all other cells.
This corresponded with anti-M but didn’t rule out anti-Cw or anti-Lu(a)
The enzyme
screen was negative in all cells. According to BTLP-TACT this rules out anti
Cw. Does this also rule out anti-Lu(a)?
18411 – a thirty
year old chap with cardiac arrest also requiring group & save
He grouped
as O Rh(D) Positive with a negative antibody screen
Bearing in
mind I got the red light it would seem that a negative enzyme screen rules out
anti-Lu(a). I’ve emailed the people at BTLP-TACT to ask for clarification.
