During the
average night shift (amongst other tasks) I perform a couple of hundred
vitamin B12 assays. However…. Have I been wasting my time?
The
standard assay just measures the total about of vitamin. Much of it is
apparently metabolically inactive. There is a school of thought emerging that
we should be measuring
the active fraction.
I wonder
how long this specialised test will take to get into routine labs?
