I’m currently
on a secondment to a sister hospital (do
hospitals have sisters?) As part of a familiarisation of practice, today I
took part in a simulated code red emergency practice. I say “took part in”, the entire thing was
staged for my benefit.
I can’t deny
that when on night shifts (or on duty at
any time) I live in terror of a ”code
red” emergency happening. Following today’s little simulation I feel
somewhat less anxious about them.
That’s not
saying I’m entirely confident about the concept, but the exercise was very
useful. I’m glad I did it.
