Here’s an interesting case we had at work the other day:

           Oval macrocytes, teardrop pokilocytes. ? cause



Disastrously low results on all cell lines. It turns out this was a case of paroxysmal nocturnal haemoglobinuria.

I was surprised to see it in one so relatively young, but it turns out I was mistaken; it *is* a condition of the young. For some reason I was of the opinion that it was a pre-leukaemic condition of the middle-aged. One lives and learns… which is why we (I) do CPD…
