An
interesting case from one of the haematology-related Facebook groups I follow:
- · Patient 82yo male
- · Symptoms:
- · Complains of being tired all the time, feeling achy, and just not right.
- · Relevant lab results:
- · Increased creatinine and bun, increased calcium, hgb 7.2, flagged automated cbc/diff.
- · This is an easy one once you see the cells.
The
cells in question are plasma cells. I was once told they look like “wrong coloured fried eggs”. Usually seen
in conjunction with rouleaux of the red
cells… Myeloma !!
