17 January 2017 (Tuesday) - The Fountain of Youth?

Here's something thought-provoking:

A California-based company is enrolling volunteers for the first US clinical trial to investigate the anti-aging effects of giving older people the blood of younger people.

The company performing these trials claim they have performed the procedure on 30 people and they’re already seeing benefits including renewed focus, improved appearance and more muscle tone. They are trying to set up a wider trial.

This sounds like some of the more grotesque science-fiction. Personally I'd rather not have a blood transfusion if I could avoid it. I wonder how this will pan out...

  1. How could this work in practice? According to the handy website

there are 5 simultaneous ageing processes that have evolved to prevent cancer related premature death. After all, it is the gene which is selfish/wants to be immortal, not the organism per se.
