24 March 2023 (Friday) - Vitamin E induced coagulopathy

There is a theory that iron therapy can cause inflammations which inhibit iron uptake. Supplementing the iron therapy with vitamin E can reduce the inflammation and enhance the iron uptake.
However too much vitamin E can cause coagulopathy by inhibiting vitamin K-derived coagulation factor synthesis. This can cause serious bleeding events such as gastrointestinal bleeding and intracranial hemorrhage.
