The BBTS
sent me an invitation today. Did I want to enrol in the BBTS Specialist
Certificate in Transfusion Science Practice?
Yes, I
did.
I looked
at the
link they’d sent, and immediately changed my mind. They wanted over two
thousand pounds for me to do this course. Two thousand pounds which I would have to pay.
You know,
it’s a funny old world. To become a qualified biomedical scientist you have to
do a four-year university course. Then qualify in the lab which can take
another to years. And still be expected to shell out for this sort of thing out
of your own pocket.
On the
other hand you can leave school with a couple of GCSEs and become a conductor
on the trains earning far more money with nowhere near as much responsibility.
I don’t
dislike my job, but if I had my time again…
