5 September 2017 (Tuesday) - Malaria in Italy ?

Northern Italy hasn’t been malarious for years. So where has a local got it from? According to the BBC a resident has contracted malaria with absolutely no possible source of infection identifiable.

Perhaps the hot summer has brought the mosquitoes up north? I wonder if this is a one-off, or if this is the way of the future. Rather than being a once-a-week-on-ourists test, will malaria screening become a much greater part of my day?
