8 September 2023 (Friday) - BTLP Exercise

Yet another email about my low level of participation in the BTLP-TACT scheme. From conversations with others I seem to do more exercises than the rest of the universe put together (exaggeration? – I wonder!!!) but still I get told I’m not doing enough.#So here we go again.

84392 I was presented with two cases – a fifty-six year old woman in A&E requiring group & save for epistaxis.
She grouped as AB RH(D) Negative with a negative antibody screen

09685 – a sixty-five year old woman in medical out patients requiring group & save for a DVT
She grouped as AB Rh(D) Positive with antibody screen positive in cells 1 and 2
I performed antibody panels.
The IAT and enzyme panels were positive in cells 1, 2 and 3. Anti D (?!) but can’t exclude anti-Cw
Bearing in mind that the D reaction wasn’t as positive as it might be, was this a D-fraction?
This is one for NHSBT

Amazingly I got the green light…
