Here’s
an interesting case in the Haematology Interest Group on Facebook:
“19 year female patient with severe
pancytopenia and 45% abnormal promyelocytes in peripheral blood. Flow cytometry
isn’t done yet, but i think it is classic M3”
Is
it? Back in the day the diagnosis would be entirely on morphological grounds.
Now cell markers are the method of choice.
I
was going to say that it was a shame that the flow cytometry results weren’t
presented, but they were added as a comment later:
“The flowcytometry result is: HLD-DR&CD34
negative and bright MPO consistent with APL -M3 fab classification”
