patient presented feeling gernerally unwell with a low platelet count. What was
that all about?
It
illustrates a point; when examining thrombocytopenia there really is no substitute
to a good old-fashioned blood film. In this case it turned out that the chap in
question had a completely unsuspected case of malaria.
