15 May 2018 (Tuesday) - Transfusion Evidence Library Update

The Transfusion Evidence Library email arrived today. Loads of interesting stuff…

Most important new publications
Effect of age of red cells for transfusion on patient outcomes: a systematic review and meta-analysis
McQuilten Z K,  French C J, et al., Transfusion Medicine Reviews 2018
Haemostatic therapies for acute spontaneous intracerebral haemorrhage
Al-Shahi Salman R,  Law Z K, et allThe Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews 2018.
Antifibrinolytics for heavy menstrual bleeding
Bryant-Smith A C,  Lethaby A, et al. The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews 2018.
Article of the Month (May 2018)
Immediate effects of blood donation on physical and cognitive performance - A randomized controlled double blinded trial
Eliassen H S,  Hervig T, et al. The Journal of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery

… the operative word is “interesting”. Is this *really* CPD? It is all interesting, but is it actually helping me develop professionally? Maybe if they had one or two articles about difficult antibody investigations, grouping discrepancies… it is *all* clinical stuff.
